Common topics
The quickest answers for everyday use of the extension.
Install and update
Add the extension from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons. The store keeps it up to date on its own. Your installed version is shown at the bottom of the popup.
Run a scan
Open the popup. The extension lists every add-on installed in your browser with a clear verdict. Use the filter to show flagged, unknown, or clean items.
Deep scan
For an extension that has not been seen before, start a deep scan from the popup. Extuno downloads the published package by its store id and analyzes it on our servers. No files from your device are uploaded. A result usually returns within about 15 minutes.
Web protection
Five layers run on every page: network, deceptive sites, phishing, downloads, and scripts and miners. Turn each one on or off in Settings, or pause all protection for a few minutes from the popup.
Custom rules
Add your own allow or block rules per protection layer in Settings. An allow rule always wins over a block, so you stay in control of your own sites.
Account
Connecting an Extuno account is optional. It saves your deep scan reports so you can open the full report at extuno.com. The extension works without an account using an anonymous device identifier.
Troubleshooting
If something does not behave as expected.
An extension is not being scanned
Reopen the popup to refresh the list. A sideloaded or developer-mode extension with no public store listing cannot be deep scanned, but its catalog verdict still applies.
A site I trust is blocked
Open Settings, find the protection layer that blocked it, and add the domain as an allow rule. You can also report a false block from the popup so the team can review it.
A deep scan is taking a while
A deep scan runs a full analysis on our servers and usually finishes within about 15 minutes. The popup updates to a clean or dangerous verdict when it completes.
How do I report a malicious site or extension
Use Report site in the popup footer, or email us with the details. Include the extension name and store id, your browser and version, the extension version shown in the popup, and the steps that led to the issue.
Privacy
What the extension does and does not do with your data.
Your other extensions
The extension never reads the files of your other extensions and never disables or removes them on its own. It checks what is installed using metadata the browser already exposes.
Deep scans
A deep scan uploads zero files from your device. The published package is fetched by its store id on our servers, so nothing leaves your browser.
Identity
Only an anonymous device identifier is used. Connecting an account is optional, and you can use every protection feature without one.
